I am not sure I would find this thread again after you get the details from her father, so I would ask you start a new thread (at that time with details) with a title like $1 to Ashley or something that would say "Teamless - read me"
That's a good idea. I'll make it a global announcement for a while, then move it to a sticky.

If folks would rather use PayPal, that's fine. I'll set up a special form so I can track donors and let Ashley know how much we appreciate her. I don't just want her to get money and not have any idea how many people are behind her.

Yes, very important!

Paypal is easiest for me, but any method will work. I want to contribute for several family members as well. Sooner the better, just let us know, I'm ready.

And THANK YOU for bringing this to our attention and for taking the time to make a difference in a young person's life!

She did the right thing.

I think this one has to be laid at the feet of the Mayor and city council. They along with the city manager set city policy. :mad5

Shame on the City of Dallas, not the Dallas PD.

The PD has enough faux paux of their own, they don't need this one. :coolgleamA:

:iagree: That is why my earlier post did not attempt to assign who made the decision. My problem in this case is with making a statement other than "we have no comment at this time." I will thank them however for giving the forum a chance to come together to reward the young lady's correct values. Her parents obviously took the time to teach her good values. I am disappointed that Dallas did not reinforce the lessons.

I'll be more than happy to donate a dollar.

It might be interesting to see which of Dallas' mayoral candidates would like to contribute a dollar as well. At the very least, I would like to get their take on the situation perhaps as a debate question.

They could change the policy with the stroke of a keyboard if they wanted to.

Maybe they will. I hope they do.

I'd like to know why it was changed to begin with.

This is likely the law of unintended consequences coming home to roost.

This young woman will likely get enough to pay her first year of college. And she deserves it.

The City and DPD should be asshamed.

The Dallas police are now saying they're going to give her the money...in about 4 months:

So what now everybody in Dallas gets to come forward and say they lost $2000?

I'm still in for rewarding this girl for bringing this money in when most people wouldn't. She should know people appreciate her honesty.
