Hope and Change for Illinois?
In Pike County, Illinois, Dan Mefford, a chiropractor from Pittsfield, has begun a movement to get a constitutional carry referendum on the election ballot for March of 2012. If successful, such a ballot referendum, “could lead to the state being forced to recognize this right as well, and to expand it to include the rest of Illinois,”

Re: Hoe and Change for Illinois?
His first challenge will be to segregate Chicago, and its neigboring counties and communities, from Illinois. Once that is accomplished, it should be pretty much a done deal. Illinois is not Chicago and Chicago is definitely not Illinois.fishman wrote:Good for Dan, and the state of Illnois.

Actually I think the same could be said about the U.S. with regard to NYC, much of Kalifornia, and Chicago. It is interesting how just those 3 liberal areas have so much control over the rest of the country.Oldgringo wrote: His first challenge will be to segregate Chicago, and its neigboring counties and communities, from Illinois. I understand what you're saying, but be aware that most of 'Kalifornia' is not liberal. At least not when measured by square-mile, if not population. If you could just eliminate LA and SF, you'd probably like the rest of CA.

Re: Hope and Change for Illinois?
It will not happen. I lived in Illinois for most of my life and now live over the border and frequently travel between the two states. Illinois came very close to having a CCW law passed last year but it did not happen. I don't think it will happen with a stunt like this.
Truth is that the only way I see Illinois gaining a CCW law is when the Supreme court forces it upon Illinois.

It seems to me that the statement above pretty-much contradicts itself.Toorop wrote:It will not happen. Re: Hoe and Change for Illinois?
I believe you. The problem is that Kalifornia is and has been controlled by Liberals for a very long time. With 40K worth of CCW in a State of 37M (and I do understand that a lot of population lives in dense, Liberal areas) there isn't very much of Conservative statement anywhere to be found on this or any other topic. Forays into any Conservative thinking as represented in the Propositions presented for general votes seem to get stamped out the heavily Liberal Kalifornia Legislature. If the areas outside of LA and SF are something besides Liberal, why doesn't the Legislature reflect that? I still say it is something in the water.sjfcontrol wrote: I understand what you're saying, but be aware that most of 'Kalifornia' is not liberal. If I had to take bets between IL and CA as to which would get general concealed carry first, I'd have to go with IL. They are at least making decent attempts to get the appropriate measures up for votes. I do agree that the fastest path will probably be SCOTUS but surprises can happen.

I have to disagree. Look at the drivel in the form of propositions that constantly come out of the state. Those are direct reflections of the populace.chasfm11 wrote:I believe you. Re: Hoe and Change for Illinois?
I've been to and through most of Kalifornia and do like most of it. The problem is LA and SF, I'd through in Sacramento also. Just like the only real problem with Illinois is Chicago. Unfortunately that doesn't change the fact that those liberal areas cause many problem for everyone else and not just in those states. It is also sad that some of those liberals from the metro areas are spreading out into other areas of the country. I suspect that before too many more years, a couple of decades at most, many of use will also be complaining about Nevada and Utah.sjfcontrol wrote: I understand what you're saying, but be aware that most of 'Kalifornia' is not liberal. Re: Hope and Change for Illinois?
Illinois' corruption permeates from the state down, not just in Chicago. Perfect place to spawn presidential candidates.
