Employment
The DPS application asks for employment for the past 5 years.
If there is a gap in employment how does dps treat this????
what if you retire???

Re: Employment
Just put down the dates that you were unemployed and state that you were unemployed.
There is no requirement that you have a job or spotless work history, they just want to know what you were doing and where for the background checks.

They have no problem with "student" so I think they have no problem with "retired" as long as you don't leave any gaps.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Mind the gap.

With the current economy, we have a lot more of those than you might think.

That would be me, I try to learn something new everyday. From this forum; for instance, I'm learning how to be a constitutional scholar and professor of jurisprudence.03Lightningrocks wrote:WildBill wrote:What if you are a retired student?Ameer wrote:They have no problem with "student" so I think they have no problem with "retired" as long as you don't leave any gaps.

I haven't worked at all during the last 5 years. I stay at home with my little ones. I can't remember how I filled out the application...if I just put unemployed or homemaker or whatever. Anyway, there's no requirement that you be employed to obtain a CHL

Re: Employment
As a Sound Engineer/Stage Hand I have frequent stints of unemployment (although not lately
), have gigs that run coast to coast and my employers address is rarely the same as where I am actually working. I listed my gaps as "Self Employed" which is technically the truth since I freelance. Didn't seem like there was any delay in processing my application. My wife always lists "homemaker" on anything that asks for employment history.
