Employment

Post by tommyg »

The DPS application asks for employment for the past 5 years.

If there is a gap in employment how does dps treat this????

what if you retire???

Just put down the dates that you were unemployed and state that you were unemployed.

There is no requirement that you have a job or spotless work history, they just want to know what you were doing and where for the background checks.

:iagree: It would show if you moved to another county or state so the DPS could check your background with the local law enforcement agency.

They have no problem with "student" so I think they have no problem with "retired" as long as you don't leave any gaps.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Mind the gap.

What if you are a retired student?

With the current economy, we have a lot more of those than you might think. :totap:

That would be me, I try to learn something new everyday. From this forum; for instance, I'm learning how to be a constitutional scholar and professor of jurisprudence. :smilelol5:

I haven't worked at all during the last 5 years. I stay at home with my little ones. I can't remember how I filled out the application...if I just put unemployed or homemaker or whatever. Anyway, there's no requirement that you be employed to obtain a CHL ;-)

As a Sound Engineer/Stage Hand I have frequent stints of unemployment (although not lately :cheers2: ), have gigs that run coast to coast and my employers address is rarely the same as where I am actually working. I listed my gaps as "Self Employed" which is technically the truth since I freelance. Didn't seem like there was any delay in processing my application. My wife always lists "homemaker" on anything that asks for employment history.
