Rice University police said a female employee was attacked on the sidewalk north of Rice Stadium about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The man pointed a gun at the woman's head and demanded cash, investigators said.
the robber had a gun on campus, maybe more proof that BGs don't care what a law says?
Hmm... concealed carry on campus isn't needed.... Time to get it PASSED!

Would be nice to see Perry call an Emergency Session to get it passed RIGHT NOW......before someone in Texas gets killed on Campus. :banghead:

The opponents of campus carry are accomplices.

:iagree:

maybe to sweeten the deal have an extreme penalty for unlicensed carry on campus . i dont think there's anywhere on Gods green earth that a licensed , law abiding citizen shouldnt be allowed to carry . makes me sick that my wife cant enter her work property armed without being a felon :banghead:

I dont believe the article. Schools are a gun free zone...why would someone not follow this law? It just does not compute.

Well, to be fair ... this occurred on the jogging path that circles the campus. Actually, that is where the majority of attacks at Rice occur. While technically part of the campus, it is essentially a public walkway on the very perimeter.

agreed, and assuming she did not walk out of a campus building or class event, she could carry a gun on the running track, but then again, assuming is not what I want to do, and anyone could be walking out of class to the jogging path and thus could not carry

Yes, I agree completely. And I also stand corrected as this was not on the jogging trail as I thought it was. It was on a short pathway by the stadium - still close to the edge, but definitely 'inside the hedges'.

Several things wrong with this story
1) -as noted- it was on campus which is a gun free zone
2) Rice is "in a nice neighborhood"
3) Rice provides campus security

Now, we all know that crimes don't happen in any of these circumstances, so how can this story be true???

My theory is that they might cancel each other out.

I know we like to make jokes about it, but college campuses are not gun free zones. College buildings are, but not the entire campus.

Which begs the question.
As an Employee, (which she is) was she going to or coming from a building?
Like Amanda Collins could carry in the parking garage maybe, but her intent was to enter a building so it was stored in the car ...

But nonetheless:
The area is advertised as a criminal safe zone ... so ... doesn't even matter if she was a licensee or not, the advertisement of criminal safe zones and the promotion of such zones is why the anti-gun lobby are accomplices.

Yes they are. To those who do not have a CHL. And I am going to go out on a limb and say that this guy did not have a CHL :

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A stick up in a student parking deck at CPCC is caught on several cameras.

It began on the west side of campus when a young man dressed all in black, with a hood, is seen milling around parking deck number 2.

He frightens a female student.
