HA HA!!! "rlol" "rlol" "rlol" We take credit cards---they don't have a CLUE whether the customer swipes it or we do!!! SAME discount rate(that is what the fee is called). What does make a difference is whether or not the customer enters a PIN for debit cards--if they enter a PIN, it is treated (and charged to us) as a debit card/transfer--if they don't enter a PIN, it is treated (and charged to us) as a credit card at a higher rate

The different rate is for "Card Present" or "Card Not Present" transactions. "Card not present" would be for internet transactions, or where the card number is manually entered. "Card present" is where the card is swiped, either by the customer or by the merchant.

A DOJ official responds:

“It’s no coincidence that these so-called examples of rampant voter fraud consistently turn out to be manufactured ones.”

O'Keefe: let me show you how easy it is to break the law
DOJ: FAKE!!!!

Yeah, I'm sorry ... I worded that poorly. I have been told that by switching over to customer kiosk systems, merchants were able to pay classify the swipes differently and pay lower rates. Obviously that cant differentiate who swipes the card. But, I haven't been able to find anything to confirm that online so it could be wrong.

Yep. And the credit card companies turn the customers against the merchants. . .

I have to always escape/cancel the PIN request prompt and force my debit card to run as a credit card transaction in order to get the rewards, which in turn costs the merchant more money.

Credit and debit cardholders who believe that writing "See ID" or "Check ID" on the signature panel of their cards will help prevent fraud should think again. According to Visa and MasterCard, when a merchant sees "See ID" on the back of a card instead of a signature, that card should not be processed. But as merchants continue to implement technology where the customer does her own card swiping, well, who is really checking?

I'll change tactics when my card starts getting refused.
It's NEVER been a problem for me.. Thanks for the heads up though.. :tiphat:
