I posted on the other thread,What this really shows us:
A .40 JHP(or 9mm or .45) to the chest is not an instant stopper or even a knock down. The officer was still very much at risk well after the shot.
Trooper engages man, after man starts shooting

We had a recent thread where some felt a leo fired too many shots. you fire until the threat stops.

Was that the thread with an unarmed man from the car accident? That one took 10 shots I think...

Re: Trooper engages man, after man starts shooting
What I think he was referring to was that some pointed to the number of shots used as if that proved it had to be a bad shoot.rbwhatever1 wrote:Was that the thread with an unarmed man from the car accident? That one took 10 shots I think...

Re: Trooper engages man, after man starts shooting
I think we've had two recently and qualify for a little more research:texanjoker wrote: I am wondering if he will win an appeal as Acevedo is under heat for a recent shooting (not this one) by the usual people here in Liberal Austin.
1) APD fired at an unarmed man in a traffic stop who didn't follow orders. The officer missed and no one was hurt. AI can't find anything that says the man was charged with a crime. The video is being reviewed : http://www.statesman.com/news/news/loca ... cer/nXkWj/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2) APD shot an unarmed man who was acting suspicious - he checked the doors on a closed bank. He ran a detective tried to stop him and apparently the officer accidentally shot him in the back of the neck subsequent to fleeing. No video, but the officer is claiming that the shot was not intentional. http://www.austinchronicle.com/news/201 ... ccidental/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Certainly we see the other side of #1 here - what happens if you don't act quickly enough. #2, that one is going to be tough to explain.
It's got to be tough to be a LEO. You're wrong if you do and sometimes you're wrong if you don't.
I think both issues should be reviewed by someone other than law enforcement.
