There are many people for whom their objections don't have to have anything to do with the law. They don't hesitate to call police even when they have been previously told by the police that what they are reporting is not illegal. Good on this PD for not sending officers to harass the protesters. One of my neighbors has not been so lucky about being reported to the police for his lawful activity.

I'd expect this reaction on Odessa and probably a lot of East Texas, too. I'm afraid that Sharon wouldn't have fared well with some of the East Texans that I know. I suspect the whole thing might have gone differently in a place like Austin or maybe even Houston.
